Bread Pudding


Preheat oven to 350o F.
Butter an 8" X 8" square baking dish, or similar size.

​Put bread in dish.
Heat milk to hot (not boiling, microwave is OK)
Beat eggs in mixer.
Add sugar and beat until creamy.
Add salt and vanilla to sugar mixture and beat.
Add milk to mixture and stir until sugar is dissolved
Cover bread with mixture.
Dot top with butter.
Bake at 350o F for 35 - 40 minutes, until top is golden brown and knife comes out clean when inserted in center.

Serve warm or cold.

May be refrigerated overnight and reheated.

Serves 8 - 10.


  • 2 1/2 cups torn bread (crusts are best)
  • 3 cups hot milk
  • 2 XL eggs, beaten 
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 Tbs. butter
